Twitter working with IPOB to destabilise Nigeria — Lai Mohammed

The House of Representatives Joint committee mandated to interface with the federal government and investigate the suspension of social blogging site, Twitter has commenced sitting.

The committee’s sitting is coming almost two weeks after it was given a 10-day time frame to conclude its assignment.

Defending the Federal government action, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed informed the committee that the microblogging platform violated the country’s constitution by making its services available to certain groups trying to destabilize Nigeria, arguing that any platform that threatens the internal security of the country cannot be allowed to operate.

The minister emphasized that for yielding its platform to a group (IPOB) proscribed by the Federal government, Twitter and it’s owners have violated Nigeria’s Anti Terrorism Act.

He also blamed the microblogging platform for the escalation of the Endsars protest through the funding of protesters against Police brutality .
