UPDATE: Falana Cautioned FG To Respect Human Rights Law Over Kanu, Ighobo’s Cases

Basic liberties legal counselor and dissident, Femi Falana (SAN), has cautioned the national government to regard law and order and worldwide basic freedoms law in dealing with the instances of secessionists, Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho.

Falana, who unveiled this on Sunday at the Geneva Refugee Convention Symposium to stamp its 70 years of presence coordinated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lagos.

He noted Kenya and Nigeria have a removal deal, adding that what might have been done was to go to court and bring back the person, “obviously that would have been done on account of Ighoho.”

Falana likewise noticed that the public authority of Benin Republic declined the removal of Ighoho to Nigeria, refering to reasons that they were keeping law and order and fair treatment.

He said, “The court in Benin Republic is sitting practically consistently in light of the fact that the issue of freedom is included. While in our own court, it isn’t the case, Nnamdi Kanu was to be brought to court last Monday, yet it didn’t occur; there is no clarification for that, and the case has been dismissed for 90 days. Aside from the Nigerian court, we additionally utilize the ECOWAS local court to secure the privileges of exiles.”
