Workers Observing Monday’s Sit-At-Home Threaten to Have Their Salaries Reduced by Soludo.

While addressing the Anambra State workforce at the May Day Workers celebration held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, the state capital, Anambra Governor Soludo made the threat on Monday while observing Monday’s sit-at-home.

Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has threatened to reduce the salaries of workers who skip work on Mondays as a result of sit-at-home policies implemented throughout Nigeria’s South-East by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The threat was made by the governor on Monday while he was addressing the workforce of Anambra State at the May Day Workers celebration in Awka, the state capital, at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square.
The lead representative said that Monday sit-at-home had turned into a reason for laborers to abstain from dealing with Mondays, advance notice that it couldn’t proceed.

Governor Soludo stated, “You cannot be working just four days a week and earn full salaries,” when he recently increased worker pay by 10%. On Monday, we must resume working for the government. On the off chance that we don’t go to work, we should not get our full compensation. We must be compensated in proportion to the number of work days we put in. We must direct Saturday work if we are to continue missing Monday work.

“You must perform your duties, and we cannot work for 70% and earn 11%. We will cut your pay rates when you neglect to come to chip away at Monday.”

He went on to say that the state government had been operating with a budget deficit of N88 billion for the past year. He explained that the 2023 budget was based on N4 billion in monthly revenue generated internally, but the state has only been producing N2 billion.

In addition, Governor Soludo stated that the state government was receiving less than the N5 billion it was supposed to receive from the federal government.

As a result, he urged workers to work hard and contribute to the state government’s revenue generation in order to ensure the welfare of workers and address other pressing issues.

Governor Soludo urged labor leaders to investigate the proposal, claiming that he was under pressure to increase salaries and reduce workforce size.
