BnL welcome efforts by Igbo leaders to secure Kanu’s release, reject political solution for Biafra

The Biafra Nations League, BnL, said it would not part of any political solution approved by Igbo leaders to replace an independent state of Biafra, noting that the struggle is not an Igbo affair.

The group disclosed the position following the deliberation by Igbo elders who adopted a political solution for the Biafra agitation alongside the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In a live video broadcast monitored by OAK METRO on Wednesday, the BnL welcomed the efforts of the Igbo leaders to secure Kanu’s release, but said the idea of a political solution and an Igbo presidency to replace Biafra is excluded from its plan.

The fight is not an Igbo affair where some elders from the Igbo areas would flirt for a position of presidency in exchange for Biafra, said an orientation officer who read the separatist group’s position.

During the broadcast, BnL also rejected the claim that it blocked the entrance to Bakassi Peninsula and hoisted the Biafran flag three weeks ago following the unconfirmed promise of amnesty to armed militants in the region by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The group called “false” the assertion by chairman of Bakassi Local Government— Honorable Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, saying that its action should not be associated with the amnesty but with the quest for a sovereign state of Biafra.
