BREAKING: Officers flee as gunmen attack police station in Ebonyi, free prisoners

Detained suspects were released late Sunday night when unidentified gunmen attacked the 135 Divisional Police Headquarters in Ohaukwu, Ebonyi State.

Police patrol vans and other vehicles in the post were also set on fire by the gunmen who stormed the post in a commando style.

An eyewitness told OAK METRO that the gunmen fired sporadically before releasing the detained suspects.

“It happened last night, the gunmen fired sporadically and forced the police on duty to flee, before releasing the suspects,” said an eyewitness who added that “all the patrol vans and other vehicles in the station are set on fire ”.

Victims are yet to be confirmed in the attack for which no group has claimed responsibility.
