Four killed, village head and others kidnapped as gunmen raid Taraba towns

Gunmen, on Tuesday, kidnapped the village head of Maigemu and three other persons, after killing four people at Kwatan Nanido and Maigemu villages, in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Dr. Bulus Yari, a commercial bus driver, told DAILY POST in Kaduna that the bandits stormed the Local Government Area around 1.00am on Tuesday.

He said among the abducted people were two housewives.

According to him, the bandits, who came on motorcycles, operate from a forest, near River Benue.

He said on several occasions, the bandicts terrorised residents of the community, forcing fishermen and dry season farmers to abandon their businesses.

Also confirming the bandits’ attack, Chief of Mutumbiyu community, Justice Sani Muhammed (retd.), called for the deployment of soldiers to his domain to checkmate the activities of the bandits.

He hailed the local vigilante for guarding their villages all through the night, as he called for more support from sister security agencies.

Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Usman Abdullahi did not pick his calls and did not reply to text messages sent to him.
