Following the discovery of crude oil in the North, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) stated that Biafra can now function as a sovereign state.
IPOB expressed this in an explanation on Friday adding that the revelation was a solution to the requests of its chief, Nnamdi Kanu who had implored that the Northern district ought to find oil in business amount to work with the Biafra exit.
According to the statement that was signed by Emma Powerful, the self-determination organization’s spokesperson, this was made known.
Keep in mind that the $3 billion Kolmani Integrated Development Project’s commercial production of crude oil and gas was officially launched on Tuesday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Oil Prospecting Licences 809 and 810, which connect the two northern states, lie in the Gongola Basin of the Upper Benue Trough, where the Kolmani project is situated along the fields of Gombe and Bauchi.
Buhari stated that the Kolmani River field attracted investments worth $3 billion while addressing the nation at the event.
IPOB responded by stating that despite having solid minerals, the Northern region has been reluctant to allow Biafra to take place due to its benefit from the South-East crude oil profits.
“Northern Nigeria has large deposits of many solid minerals,” was one portion of the statement.However, they are prepared to do unimaginable things in order to obtain oil in Biafra because they are hungry for it.
“Today, God Almighty has resolved the age-old issue of unity caused by crude oil for the device.”If they are sincere in resolving Nigeria’s issue, the crude oil discovery in the north will undoubtedly end this forced unity.Biafrans have no interest in oil or not.We only need a favorable environment to conduct our business without being concerned about terrorists at our borders.
“Another important thing that has happened to the Northerners is the discovery of over a billion barrels of crude oil in the Gongola Basin.”
It went on to say that “Nnamdi Kanu’s prophecy has come true because he prayed in one of his Radio Biafra broadcasts that God should give to the North oil so that Nigeria’s problem will be solved for good.”
“Can we all go our separate ways and take care of our own business now that every part of Nigeria has oil?”
