We are keeping an eye on those who plan to buy votes on Saturday—Boss of the EFCC

On Wednesday, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who is in charge of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, said that some politicians had plans to buy votes on Saturday with cash and kind.

He spoke during an interview on The 2023 Verdict, an election show on Channels Television.

The chairman of the EFCC urged citizens to report vote buying, selling, and other signs of financial misconduct, and he confirmed that all of the agency’s officers had been sent to monitor the polls in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

“We have intelligence that a lot of politicians have bought some items that they will use to buy votes in kind rather than in cash,” he stated. However, we are prepared for any circumstance and will not hesitate to detain anyone found guilty. On election day, we will keep an eye on everything.
Bawa also said that governors, dishonest businessmen, and public officials were allegedly hoarding old and new naira notes with the intention of buying votes in the presidential election on Saturday.
