Despite the kidnapping of over 250 schoolgirls in Chibok Secondary School in 2014, Boko Haram militants have continued to terrorize Chibok and the neighboring villages on a regular basis. More than eighty of the schoolgirls that were taken are still in the terrorists’ custody as of right now.

While more than 160 000 rebels and their families have turned themselves in to the military in various parts of the northeast, the remaining terrorists have turned to stealing food and non-food items from villages in an attempt to increase their meager earnings as a result of the countermeasures the Nigerian military has implemented, which are stifling their source of income.
