The old N200 (two hundred naira) note will remain in circulation until April 10, 2023, when it will cease to be legal tender, according to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele.
During his live broadcast on Channeles TV on Thursday, Buhari issued the directive. He stated that the new 500 and 1000 naira notes should be used alongside the old 200 naira note.
He also told the CBN to make it possible for Nigerians to withdraw their money. Additionally, Buhari instructed the CBN to work with security and anti-corruption personnel to ensure that no one harmed the Federal government’s efforts.
