BREAKING:EFCC fined N1m over unlawful invasion of firm

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday forced N1 million fine on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over unlawful intrusion of an Abuja-based organization.

The organization, Fezel Nigeria Limited, situated at Plot 792, Cadastral Zone Industrial Estate, Idu-Abuja was strongly attacked by officials of the EFCC early this year with no legitimate explanation.

Equity Inyang Ekwo in a judgment in a suit established against the EFCC held that the counter unite organization acted in break of the Constitutional privileges of the offended party in the manner the organization was attacked by completely equipped specialists of the EFCC.

In particular, the Judge held that the EFCC penetrated areas 36, 37, 40, 43 and 44 via fixing up the organization with practically no worthwhile motivation.

The court from that point conceded a request for directive against the EFCC controlling it, its authorities, specialists and privies from upsetting, scaring, bugging and capturing any staff or any laborer of the organization.

Equity Ekwo said the activity of the counter join organization added up to infringement of the freedoms of the offended party to possess property as cherished in area 43 of the 1999 Constitution.

He continued to grant a fine of N1 million naira against the EFCC to be paid to the offended party for the encroachments on its Constitutional freedoms.
