BREAKING:Kwara POS Administrator Showers N280m Got In Mistake

After a commercial bank erroneously transferred N280 million to his account, a Point of Sale operator reportedly went on a spending spree, leading to his arrest by police.

On Monday, the police in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, made an arrest for the POS operator who went by the name Alfa Rafiu.

According to information gathered by PUNCH Metro, the suspect is a resident of the Akuji compound in the Abayawo neighborhood of the state’s Ilorin West Local Government Area.

Rafiu went on a spending spree after receiving the alerts in batches a few weeks ago, according to local sources who are familiar with the situation.

However, he went on a spending spree rather than alerting the bank that had mistakenly transferred the substantial sum.

Rafiu sponsored individuals to perform lesser Hajj and purchased automobiles and houses. “Some residents were surprised by his sudden wealth as a POS operator, despite the fact that he was generous to several people in the community,” stated one of the sources.

It was also learned that the bank auditors later discovered the error and sent law enforcement after Rafiu, who was taken into custody and relocated to Lagos.

SP Ajayi Okasanmi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident when contacted.

Okasanmi stated, “His arrest was carried out by the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department from Alagbon-Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, which means that it is outside of our jurisdiction.”
