BREAKING:US court fines Trump $1m for filing ‘frivolous’ lawsuit against Hillary Clinton

For bringing a “frivolous” lawsuit against former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Donald Trump was fined nearly $1 million.

According to The Washington Post, Trump filed a lawsuit against Clinton, former FBI director James Comey, and other officials for their alleged attempt to rig the 2016 election.

In 2016, the Democratic presidential candidate was Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton’s wife.

According to TWP, the Southern District of Florida’s Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks wrote, “This case should never have been brought.” From the outset, it was clear that it was insufficient as a legal claim.

Middlebrooks stated that the sanctions were required due to the former president’s “pattern” of using the courts for political gain.

It would not have been filed by a reasonable attorney. The amended complaint did not include a cognisable legal claim in any of its counts, which were written with political intent in mind.

“Mr. Trump and his lawyers’ ongoing pattern of misuse of the courts undermines the rule of law, portrays judges as partisans, and diverts resources from those who have actually suffered legal harm.”

“He cannot be seen as a litigant blindly following the advice of a lawyer because he is the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process,” the author asserts.

Trump and his attorney, Alina Habba, were found jointly liable for $937,989 in sanctions by the judge. Judge Middlebrooks wrote, “The amount of fees awarded in this case, while reasonable, is substantial.”
