(PHOTOS) Aso Rock Kicks As Catholic Bishops, Others Shut Down Major Cities In Nigeria In Protest Against Continued Killing Of Christians In Nigeria

SAHARANEWS – Aggrieved Catholic faithful led by bishops have shut down Abuja in protest over unending killings in Nigeria which is percieved to be targeted at Christians particularly in northern Nigeria.



They are demanding urgent actions from the government to rescue the Christians in capacity, particularly Leah Sharibu, Chibok schoolgirls and other people in Boko Haram captivity.



They defiled Sunday afternoon heavy downpour in Abuja to hold the prayer procession as earlier stated. In large numbers and under police protection, the agrreived catholics matched from National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja to Our Lady Queen of Nigeria Catholic Church, Area 3, Garki, Abuja.

The prayer procession is being led by CBCN President, Bishop Augustine Akubueze, supported by other catholic bishops from across Nigeria who gathered for the first CBCN conference for the year.

Immediate Archbishop of Abuja Archdiocese, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, was almost joined the protest.
