The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended six suspects linked to the killing of the late Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ahoada Police Division, SP Bako Angbashim. The arrest occurred during a police operation conducted in the Odumude community, Ahoada East Local Government Area, aimed at recovering the deceased DPO’s body.
The operation, led by the State Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka, resulted in the seizure of a locally crafted pistol and various charms. The suspects, along with the confiscated items, are currently in police custody, undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Port Harcourt.
The incident has led to the evacuation of residents from the Odumude community. The statement also revealed the appointment of SP Zuokumor Richard as the new DPO for Ahoada division. SP Richard, accompanied by a police team, has been tasked with conducting a thorough search of the area, apprehending the culprits responsible for the DPO’s death, recovering his body, and locating any operational weapons used in the crime.
