Soldiers killed, properties burnt as separatist fighters attack military camp

A separatist militant group, known as the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), took responsibility for an attack on military bases which left soldiers dead in the southwestern Baluchistan province.

Four of the attackers were killed in the coordinated raids which took place late Wednesday evening, the Pakistani army said.

VOA quoted the army’s media wing as saying the shooting in Nushki injured a military officer.

The separatist group claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on the Pakistani army in the attack which came a week after militants belonging to the Balochistan Liberation Front, another banned separatist group, attacked a military post in the province’s Kech district and killed 10 Pakistani soldiers.

“Large parts of camps have been completely destroyed. Backup troops have arrived for the enemy forces. However, they have failed to weaken fidayee positions inside the camp,” said BLA in a press release seen by OAK METRO, which claimed the militant organization killed more than 100 soldiers at the two military camps in Pakistan.

“After the successful major attack by Fidayeens, the occupying state has banned its media from reporting events. It has also disconnected all telecommunication networks. Pakistani military’s ISPR is claiming today’s attack were repulsed, this is a complete lie and BLA’s today’s operations are still underway with full intensity,” BLA added.
