Subsidy: FCT Distributes 12,000 Bags Of Rice As Palliatives To Over 3m Residents

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has begun the distribution of 12,000 bags of rice and maize to over three million Nigerians residing across the six area councils of the territory.

The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this on Monday during the distribution ceremony in Kwali Area Council that each of the council would have 2,000 bags of rice and maize.

Represented by Bitrus Garki, Mandate Secretary, Area Council Secretariat, FCTA, Wike explained that the exercise was part of the ongoing distribution of palliatives to vulnerable residents living in the nation’s capital.

He said that some of the food items had already been distributed to various groups by the FCTA in the last two weeks.

“This includes Area Councils, representatives of 17 Chiefdoms, religious organisations, civil servants and vulnerable groups.

“The feedback we received from that exercise was incredibly encouraging, which is why we are expanding the distribution today”, he said.

According to the Minister, the exercise was to align with the renewed hope agenda of the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He said the administration aims to instil hope for a better future for all Nigerians.
