At least five soldiers died and others were injured in an accident in Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria on Tuesday.
The accident happened when a mine resistant and ambush protected vehicle carrying soldiers from 302 Artillery Regiment, General Support in Onitsha went off the road.
According to SaharaReporters, the soldiers were heading towards Ihiala to join other security agents after being informed that armed men were planning to attack a military checkpoint in the area.
Locals who confirmed the incident to Oak Metro said the wounded soldiers were taken to hospital for treatment while efforts were underway to evacuate the deceased officers.
