BREAKING:Tanzania Cancels Independence Day Celebration, To Use $445k Budget For School Dormitories

Tanzania’s leader, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has dropped Autonomy Day festivities booked to hold this Friday, December 9.
Hassan ordered that the $445,000 budget for the 61st Independence Day celebration be put toward the construction of dorms for children with special needs.
Eight dormitories will be constructed in primary schools across the nation with the funds.
On Monday, George Simbachawene, the state minister of Tanzania, stated that the funds had been distributed. He stated that the nation in East Africa will hold public discussions on development to commemorate Independence Day.
The celebration has been postponed numerous times by previous Tanzanian administrations. In 2015, the president at the time, John Magufuli, canceled celebrations and used funds to build a road in Dar es Salaam, the commercial hub.
He did the same thing in 2020 and told the budget to buy medical facilities.
