Delta APC divided over Omo-Agege’s expulsion

The expulsion of Ovie Omo-Agege, the Deputy President of the Senate, from the All Progressives Congress in Delta State due to alleged anti-party activities has divided the party.

In a letter dated March 31, 2023, obtained by The PUNCH on Monday, the Ulebor Isaac-led Delta APC Executive Committee announced Omo-Agege’s expulsion.

The PUNCH had reported that Sheriff Oborevwori, the People’s Democratic Party’s candidate for governor of Delta State, defeated APC candidate Omo-Agege in the March 18 election.

According to the expulsion letter that Isaac signed, the Delta APC Executive Committee made the decision at a meeting that took place on March 31, 2023, at the state secretariat in Asaba.

The letter said the chiefs arrived at the choice in the wake of thinking on “the Notification of Goal of Ejection of Representative Ovie Omo-Agege,” which was submitted “by the leader panel of the Orogun ward and Ughelli North Nearby Government.

“Thusly, Congressperson Ovie Omo-Agege thusly stands removed as an individual from the party with prompt impact for different offenses committed and demonstrations of hostile to party exercises and ridiculous unfortunate behavior that has carried disgrace and derision to the picture of the party in the state which impacted the party in the equitable finished up decisions,” the letter read.

In any case, in a wind, the Omeni Sobotie-drove administration of the APC in Delta State portrayed those behind Omo-Agege’s ejection as “riffraff energizing fakers.”

The purported expulsion’s signatories, according to a statement co-signed by Sobotie and state Secretary Peter Akarogbe, “are not only dubious impostors, but very reckless with their publication,”

“We, the legitimate and only recognized State Executive Committee of the party, at the national headquarters, in consultation with all other levels in the chain, hereby disclaim the publication as fraudulent, a ruse, and of no consequence,” reads one portion of the statement.

As a result, “it should be disregarded and ignored by all party faithfuls and the general public as the handiwork of mischief-makers.”

“To take note of the wanton rascality and the unscrupulous intent to cause disharmony and a breach of public peace,” the letter urged the security agencies.

It likewise encouraged “the overall population, party faithfuls and partners to discountance the said distribution, and view it as the useless endeavor of men with abnormal goals.”
