FG blames the crumbling Nigeria’s economy on ‘corruption’, reveal fresh plan

Goddy Jedy Agba, minister of state for power, says the federal government will continue to support anti-corruption agencies to hold public officers accountable.

Agba spoke at a strategic engagement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s national anti-corruption marathon sports festival.

In a statement issued on Friday by Ofem Uket, the minister’s spokesperson, Agba said no meaningful economic development can be attained in a corrupt society.

The minister said the Buhari administration is determined to develop and build capacity in strategic sectors of the economy to eradicate corrupt practices.

According to the minister, the national anti-corruption marathon is well a designed strategy to engage the youths in the fight against corruption.

In his remarks, Nebolisa Anakor, permanent secretary of the ministry, appealed to Nigerian sportsmen and women to use sports to unite the country through great talents exhibited in sports.

Anakor added that the 2021 edition of the sports festival is dedicated to Buhari to further strengthen his administration’s effort in maintaining unity and peace in the country.
