Wednesday, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, noted that he and Peter Obi, the LP candidate, won the election and pledged to reclaim the party’s mandate.
On Wednesday, just hours after the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), the winner of the presidential election, he made this clear in a statement he signed.
He mentioned that there was no election because the results could not be sent electronically.
His words are: According to Datti Baba-Ahmed, Labour Party Vice Presidential Candidate, “We will continue the struggle and we urge Nigerians to continue to fight for their rights,” the alleged election results did not meet the minimum standard for elections.
“We appeal to Nigerians to move out and vote for the Labour Party in the upcoming governorship and state assembly elections, regardless of the low level of confidence that we have in the system.
“The election result must be electronically transmitted under the Electoral Act 2022; the fact that this was not done indicates that the election did not take place.”
“We ask Nigerians to carry on with their civic responsibilities as they did in the previous exercise.
“The Nigerian people are winners, and the Nigerian people are waiting for Peter Obi and I to get the power. They refused to upload the results on IREV, so we won this election.
“We are going to claim our mandate as Labour Party, we are going to rescue Nigeria as Labour Party, and we won the election as Labour Party.”
