If Wike joins the APC, we will be happy for him, Chief Tony Okocha says

Chief Tony Okocha, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that if Rivers State governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike leaves the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he will be welcomed into the APC.

Okocha, who made the statement yesterday while speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt, said that Wike was one of the people who helped the president-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, become president.

He said, “Today, Lead representative Wike is one of the people who is helping in the enthronement of our duly elected president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We will warmly accept Governor Wike’s attendance at the All Progressives Congress. However, one thing is clear, I don’t think Nigeria needs to be a one-party country.”

The head of the APC said that Wike had built the state’s best physical infrastructure in the state’s history, but he denied being an advocate for the governor of Rivers State.

Okocha stated, “I am not an apologist for Governor Wike, but Governor Wike is the best on physical infrastructure development in Rivers State.”

He insisted that Pastor Tonye Cole, the APC’s candidate for governor of the state, had not contributed financially to the party’s presidential campaign rally in the state. We will welcome Wike if he joins the APC – Chief Tony Okocha
