IPOB respond to Nnamdi Kanu’s troubling health situation in illegal detention.

We, the global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, wish to bring to the public’s attention the covert plan of the Nigerian government using its secret security agency, the DSS, to kill Mazi Nnamdi KANU, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, who is currently being held in their custody by poisoning, abusing drugs, and starving him.

The secret police want to get rid of Mazi Nnamdi KANU in their Abuja solitary confinement facility by slowly starving him to death with only bread and water twice a day and drug abuse by giving him insufficient medication for his known illness. They want to replicate the experiment of starving the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra from 1967 to 1970. We haven’t seen Nnamdi KANU complain about his life before.

He expressed his sadness at his slow death. He also voiced his vehement displeasure at the DSS for exposing him to drug abuse because the medication he needed for two weeks was only provided for eight days. He said that he hasn’t been able to see a doctor since the second week of December 2022, and even though his health is getting worse, DSS won’t take him to the doctor. He claims that his internal organs are severely affected, but the DSS has refused to transport him to a medical facility. In addition, he bitterly complained about pain and sound in his left ear after being tortured in Kenya and extraordinarily extradited to Nigeria.

Our leader blasted the fact that whenever he lays down, whatever he ate comes out of his mouth. Additionally, he stated that his mouth is emitting odors due to his intestines. He claims that God Almighty Chukwu Okike Abiama will assist him in surviving, despite his fears that he might not. He also expressed dissatisfaction with his diet, which is deteriorating his health. As stated by DSS, feeding him is becoming prohibitively expensive, so he typically receives morning and evening only bread. It is documented that DSS rejected the One Million Naira (N1,000,000) that IPOB leadership offered them in order to provide our leader with adequate medication and food. It is clear that DSS poisoned our leader and allowed him to slowly die.

Our leader, despite his current ordeal, expressed confidence in the Biafran Struggle and urged the movement’s members to remain steadfast and never commit any crime. We are amazed by the silence of all Igbo leaders regarding MNK’s illegal detention.

Every Nigerian, lawyers included, ought to be aware that a negative legal precedent is being established because anyone can be detained without a charge, citing his case as a judicial precedent. We are reminding the Institute for Economics and Peace that we will no longer care about anything that happens to our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU, so they should be ready to accept more money for their reports in 2023. We cannot afford to allow the Nigerian government to routinely assassinate our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU, who is unlawfully detained in spite of the verdicts of the courts.

The world is currently silent, but when the time comes, we will make them speak. Had we known, Igbo politicians who are attempting to exchange Mazi Nnamdi KANU for an election will also say. IPOB never claimed that their shoddy selection process, which they called “election,” would not take place in our territory; however, if they allow anything to happen to our leader, then everyone should be ready for the inevitable. Although IPOB is still a peaceful organization, it is impossible to know what will happen if Mazi Nnamdi KANU is not freed alive and well.

True and conscientious leaders, including elders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and businesspeople, must stand up for justice or face the consequences of allowing Mazi Nnamdi KANU to die in the hands of the DSS through starvation, drug abuse, and poisoning. We are urging the compromised American Embassy in Abuja, the compromised UK High Commissioner in Abuja, the UN Office in Abuja, the compromised Australian Embassy in Abuja, the compromised Israeli Embassy in Abuja, the compromised German Embassy in Abuja, the compromised Canadian Embassy, and the compromised Russian Embassy in Abuja. The African Union (AU) office in Abuja, the European Union (EU) office in Abuja, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) office in Abuja, the French Government and her Embassy in Abuja, the Italian Government and her Embassy in Abuja, the Blair Global Institute, Amnesty International Nigeria, the Human Rights Watch Organization in Nigeria, and other reputable organizations all over the world to testify on our behalf and never put IPOB at fault for anything.

DSS has clearly poisoned our leader and allowed him to slowly die. The Nigerian government’s decision to eliminate our nonviolent freedom fighter leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU will undoubtedly have unimaginable repercussions. The Nigerian government will only be able to save this nation by releasing Mazi Nnamdi KANU immediately and without condition if they are aware of the repercussions that would occur if our leader died while in their custody.
