The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) global family, led by our able Leader Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu KANU, condemns in the strongest possible terms this brazen attempt by the IEP to do a hatchet job for the Nigerian government by making itself readily available and willing to be used by the Fulani government of Nigeria as one of its international propaganda agencies in an attempt to present IPOB as a nonviolent Self Determination movement as being violent. It is extremely unfortunate, to put it mildly, that a global organization like the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), based in the United States and providing a measurable global terrorism index, would publish concocted malicious and false reports in an effort to serve the interests of Fulani in Nigeria, exonerate Nigeria of being a well-known State sponsor of terrorism, and blackmail IPOB, a non-violent Self-Determination group, for a fee. The Institute for Economics and Peace must be aware that their inaccurate report filled with hate, lies, extortion, and propaganda against IPOB has irreparably damaged its reputation.
This institution will gradually lose its relevance until another more objective and reputable institute takes its place because they have sold their conscience for financial gain. Although it may not be immediately apparent to them, the institute has become a willing tool in the hands of the enemies of Biafra and the Biafran people. How can a sane individual or organization write about terrorism while mentioning the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)? The IEP ought to have inquired of the Tony Blair Institute as to what happened to it after it became a tool for the same Nigerian government’s propaganda.
The indigenous people of Biafra, led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have never been under the impression that certain Western nations will readily accept and comprehend our desire for liberty and freedom because they believe that black people do not have the right to self-determination.
The current Nigerian government was cleverly portrayed in the IEP’s Terrorism Index Report of 2022 as having improved its propaganda and blackmail against IPOB by claiming to have a working counterterrorism action plan in place. However, the reality on the ground depicts a completely different picture due to the fact that the terrorists have become more empowered, more daring, and more bloodthirsty under this Buhari Government.
The report says that the number of people who died as a result of terrorism in Nigeria in 2021 was 448, which was the lowest number since 2011. Another fabricated lie is here. More than 400 civilians have been killed by Fulani-sponsored terrorists supported by the Nigerian government in just one state, such as Uzouwani in Enugu State and Benue State. Consider for a moment why the IEP and the Tony Blair Institute are presenting such blatant and shameless lies.
The reason for this is that they are interested in the upcoming SELECTION PROCESS that will take place at the zoo. By doing so, they hope to maintain the status quo, which will ensure that the resources of the various Indigenous Nations that have been forced into the contraption known as the Zoological Republic of Nigeria will continue to be exploited. Because of this, these Western organizations that receive funding from their respective governments are able to change the narrative, change the facts, and manipulate the truth on the ground in ways that align with their deliberate evil agenda and objective.
For the nth time, the Indigenous People of Biafra, led by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, have stated that they have neither an interest nor any business in the selection process for the Nigerian Jamboree. Before our struggle for self-determination can gain legitimacy in the eyes of the pro-Nigeria Western governments, institutions, and organizations, the Biafran people cannot be coerced into participating in a fictitious process.
The once-reputable IEP has made the decision to hypocritically report false information and propaganda for the Nigerian government in an effort to deceive the gullible minds in the international community into thinking that IPOB, an unarmed nonviolent freedom movement, is now the third group responsible for the deaths of people in Nigeria. This is in place of stating the facts and standing up for the truth. We challenge IEP to provide unquestionable evidence of any Nigerian killings by IPOB. In this Information Technology Age, where we can access information by simply browsing the internet, the bias and falsehoods in the IEP 2022 report are so baffling and surreal. Since 2016 and 2017, numerous IPOB members have been subjected to massacres and extrajudicial executions by Nigerian security agencies, according to indisputable evidence.
Numerous diplomatic missions in Nigeria, including the Nigerian media, as well as IPOB lawyers, Amnesty International in Nigeria, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) Nigeria, and numerous diplomatic missions in Nigeria have evidence of the Nigerian government’s mass killing of unarmed IPOB members for these crimes against humanity. If we may ask the IEP, other than demanding a REFERENDUM under international supervision to give all oppressed Indigenous Nations in Nigeria the chance to decide their fate, what have we, the Biafran people, done wrong?
We are not authorized to employ force as a methodical means of satisfying this demand and achieving our ultimate objective of a Free, Independent, and Sovereign Biafran Nation. Therefore, why all of this propaganda to sway IPOB around the world? Even though there have been numerous illegal arrests, detentions, torture, and extrajudicial killings—including the extraordinary rendition of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, from Kenya to Nigeria—the United Kingdom and the United States have never said anything about it. Instead, they have joined forces with Nigeria, which is known for being a State sponsor of terrorism, disrespecting the rule of law, and violently violating all of the known Fundamental Human Rights in order to fight
Even in the face of these high levels of provocation, IPOB has maintained its peace. IPOB has a track record of non-violently fighting for freedom, and it has offices and family members legally operating in over 120 countries, including almost all of Europe and the United States. IPOB has operated lawfully and peacefully in all of these nations, adhering to the laws of our host nation without a trace of violence. It is highly provocative, libelous, and suggests that IPOB is compromised for IEP to label them as the third group that has killed people in Nigeria.
It is extremely regrettable that the United States government has demonstrated through its agencies that it collaborates with the Nigerian government to extort IPOB members and harass them for seeking a Referendum that is recognized by the United Nations. Instead of hiding and planning global blackmail against a nonviolent movement fighting for the freedom of their people, the IEP ought to come out and tell the world what we have done wrong if we are engaging in illegal agitation. They are being observed by the world, and they will not be able to evade the consequences.
In spite of numerous documented cases of Christian massacres and invasions of Christian worship centers by Islamic extremists sponsored by the state, it is documented that the United States Department of State removed Nigeria from its list of countries of particular concern for violating religious freedom in 2022 and later returned. The fact that the Institute for Economics and Peace’s report does not even mention the Fulani terrorist group known as the Herdsmen, which ranks as the fourth most deadly terrorist organization in the world, is a clear indication of who hired IEP to harm the Indigenous People of Biafra’s reputation.
