Pro-Biafra group threatens to destroy Nigerian oil pipelines in Bakassi Peninsula

The Biafra Nations League, BnL, has threatened to massively destroy Nigerian oil pipelines in the Bakassi Peninsula.

Princewill Richards, the national leader of the separatist group, who disclosed the plan on Sunday, said the group took the decision into consideration following what he described as an illegal ceding of the peninsula to Cameroon and use of the oil to finance Boko Haram terrorists and Nigerian forces who are “killing civilians” in the southeastern region of Nigeria.

According to Richards, several attempts by militants believed to be loyal to the BnL to abduct oil workers in the Bakassi Peninsula were due to oil companies’ refusal to halt operations as the pro-Biafra group ordered last year.

The BnL leader in the statement received by GIST BRIEFLY, linked the withdrawal of foreign citizens and vessels from the sea in the region to its early threat, saying militants on the peninsula are preparing for an offensive against the Nigerian state and its allies.

Meanwhile, residents who confirmed the presence of the militants loyal to the BnL expressed fear at the new threat.
