The Bayelsa State Police Order on Monday marched a thought hijack head honcho, John Ewa, pseudonym John Lion, at the Cops Wreck, Yenagoa.

The state Chief of Police, Ben Okolo, said they were grabbed for supposedly abducting one Akeem Olushola on December 8, 2020, and Danjuma Emeje on June 30, 2022.

He said Ewa, Angase, Kingsley and Werikumo were secured “through careful examination,” while another suspect, Gbalipre Gamage, was at large.

Okolo said, “This posse has been liable for more than 10 high profile kidnappings in the state over a time of seven years.

“On December 8, 2020, one Akeeb Olushola, 48, the supervisor of another age bank was seized at his home at Old Magistrates Quarters, Opolo. He was delivered on December 12 in the wake of paying a payoff of N80m.

“Likewise, Danjuma Omeje, 41, the chief of another age bank in Yenagoa was abducted at his home at Okaka, Yenagoa, on July 30, 2022. He was delivered on July 14, 2022, subsequent to paying a payoff of N60m – N30m money and US dollar identicalness of N30m.”

He noticed that Ewa was known for his flashy way of life via virtual entertainment, adding that he admitted to the hijack of Olushola, Nancy Keme Dickson (on December 26, 2015), Chinonso Eze, and other Igbo money managers.

The police magistrate said the suspects would be charged at the finish of examination.

In a meeting, Ewa said he was associated with the snatching of Olushola and Omeje, yet asserted he didn’t know his gangsters were taken part in capturing.

He, notwithstanding, said he showed the gangsters the Yenagoa homes of the two casualties and that he knew Omeje while working in his bank as a cleaner before he surrendered in 2003.

“We were simply driving and I showed them. I said, ‘This is my previous manager’s home’. That was all there was to it,” he added.

The suspect said he got N1.5m and N3.5m from the payoffs paid by Olushola and Omeje, separately.

Angase likewise admitted to his association in the abduct of Olushola and Omeje.
