Biafra: IPOB tells members what to do ahead of Nnamdi Kanu’s co-defendants appearance in court

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has issued a new directive to its members as co-defendants of its leader Nnamdi Kanu are to appear in the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of their trial.

Oak Metro reports that Bright Chimezie; National Coordinator of IPOB, Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe; an IPOB member, Benjamin Madubugwu; and a former Field Maintenance Engineer seconded to the telecommunication company, MTN, David Nwawuisi, who were arrested alongside Nnamdi Kanu in 2015 and charged with treason and other crimes for advocating for an independent state known as Biafra, will appear in court on February 2, 2022.

The leadership of IPOB, in a statement released on Saturday, urged its members to prepare to appear in court in solidarity with the defendants.

“We cannot abandon these patriots at any point,” said the separatist group.

In the statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB said that the accusations against Nnamdi Kanu’s co-defendants “have no merit and does not hold water. Self determination activities in the world are not criminal activities.

“The federal government cannot win IPOB in the court of competent jurisdiction because freedom is inelinable right of every human being. IPOB is only following the laws of the land both international and local.

“We know the desperation of the Nigeria Government to influence the international community to stop Biafra restoration but they will not succeed at all.”

Justice Binta Nyako had earlier on February 20, 2018, ordered the separation of Kanu’s trial from that of the rest of his co-defendants.
