My family worked against me and chose Peter Obi over Umahi.

Monday, David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi State, made it clear that his family conspired against him to vote for Peter Obi, the candidate for president of the Labour Party, in the presidential election.

During an interview with Channels Television, the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, made this disclosure.

Umahi said it was amazing that President Muhammadu Buhari and the duly elected president, Bola Tinubu, lost their states to the resistance groups at the February 25 surveys.

He claims that because of the system in place to prevent any other political party from winning councilorship in the state, he never anticipated that LP would win any election in Ebonyi State.

The governor claimed that he was also unaware that his family supported Peter Obi but supported the APC in other state elections.

He added that votes got by Peter Obi during the political decision were fight votes because of Nigeria’s appearing difficulty and difficulties.

He stated, ” Actually, I allowed no opportunity to the Work Party to win any political race in my state (Ebonyi State) since what we have set up was with the end goal that no other ideological group ought to have the option to win anything, not even Councilorship political race in my state. I interpreted the Labour Party vote as a protest against the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and my own party, the APC.

“I was extremely shocked; There was a plot against me even within my family. I was unaware that they supported Peter Obi, but they supported the APC in previous elections due to our actions in the state. It comes as quite a shock.

Obi was declared the winner of the presidential election in Ebonyi State after defeating his primary rivals from the PDP and the APC.
Over 75% of the votes cast in Ebonyi State went to Obi. None of different competitors surveyed up to 25 percent of the votes cast in the state.

The LP up-and-comer collected a sum of 259,738 votes to overcome Bola Tinubu of the APC who got 42,402 votes. The PDP’s Atiku Abubakar received 13,503 votes to finish third in the election.

Umahi went on to say that he was also surprised that Tinubu, the President-elect, could lose Lagos State.

Akin Osuntokun, on the other hand, insisted that the trend was widespread and that Umahi was not the only one affected, responding to Umahi, the Director-General of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.

He stated, ” It was a general pattern. I don’t have the foggiest idea about what Umahi implied by connivance. Assuming you ask youngsters over the country who they decided in favor of, you would understand every one of them decided in favor of Obi. Thus, it was his home alone that was impacted as well as a pattern all over.”
