Nnamdi Kanu: Abia residents observe sit- at-home despite its suspension

Many residents in Abia State, South-East Nigeria are still observing the sit-at-home civil action declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to demand for the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kalu, several weeks after the group called off the exercise.

It could be recalled that the regional separatist agitation group had in a statement a fortnight ago, announced the suspension of the order and reserved it only on the day their leader, Nnamdi Kanu will appear in court.

The ever-busy Bank Road in Umuahia, the Abia State capital has remained a ghost of itself, as bank operations are closed, while some shops are also shut.

Though there are few private and public vehicles on the roads, the residents are still apprehensive.

Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state, has remained empty, with only a few shops open, while the gates of all the Banks in the area are reported closed.
